Florida Coast-to-Coast Trail
Introduction
Embark on a journey across Florida like no other on the Florida Coast-to-Coast Trail, a 250-mile pathway connecting the state's vibrant coasts through a tapestry of scenic landscapes and charming communities.
Background
The Florida Coast-to-Coast Trail offers an unparalleled opportunity for cyclists, hikers, and outdoor enthusiasts to traverse the state from the Gulf of Mexico to the Atlantic Ocean. Passing through diverse landscapes, including urban centers, rural areas, and natural preserves, the trail showcases Florida's rich ecological and cultural heritage. Users can explore a variety of terrains, from coastal plains to rolling hills, and experience local attractions, parks, and historic sites along the way. The trail's design accommodates various activities, making it accessible for both long-distance adventures and shorter regional excursions.
History
Conceived as an ambitious project to connect Florida's Gulf and Atlantic coasts, the Florida Coast-to-Coast Trail (C2C) aims to create a continuous paved multi-use path spanning approximately 250 miles. Initiated in the early 2010s, the trail integrates several existing regional trails, including the Pinellas Trail, Withlacoochee State Trail, and East Central Regional Rail Trail, among others. As of 2023, the trail is approximately 88% complete, with ongoing efforts to close the remaining gaps. Once finished, it will be the first trail of its kind in the United States, linking communities from St. Petersburg to Titusville and providing a unique corridor for recreation and transportation across Central Florida.
