In January 1850, Jesuit missionary Georges-Antoine Belcourt and his companions sought refuge atop what is now known as Butte Saint Paul during a severe blizzard. This act of faith and endurance is commemorated by a 12-foot stone cairn and plaque at the peak, serving as a testament to the area's rich historical tapestry.
