Beaver Lake State Park was established in 1932, born from the aspirations of local residents who, in 1929, convened at Shepard’s Pavilion to advocate for a park honoring early settlers. Despite the challenges of the Great Depression and severe droughts of the 1930s, the park gradually took shape. In 1933, Beaver Creek was dammed, elevating the lake's water level. By 1935, the Works Progress Administration contributed to the park's development by constructing roads, pathways, and terraced picnic areas, laying the foundation for the serene retreat enjoyed today.
