History

Established in 1965, Jacksonport State Park preserves the rich history of a once-thriving river port town at the confluence of the White and Black rivers. In the 1800s, steamboats made Jacksonport a bustling hub of commerce and trade. During the Civil War, both Confederate and Union forces occupied the town due to its strategic location. The park's centerpiece is the restored 1872 courthouse, which now serves as a museum, offering visitors a glimpse into the town's vibrant past and its role in Arkansas's history.
