Background

A pristine coastal preserve spanning over 712 acres, Lovers Key State Park offers a diverse ecosystem of mangrove forests, maritime hammocks, and pristine beaches. The park provides critical habitat for wildlife and offers visitors an immersive experience in Southwest Florida's unique coastal environment.

History

Originally known as Lovers Key, the area was named for couples who would seek privacy on these secluded islands. In 1983, the state acquired the property and developed it as a state park, preserving its natural beauty and ecological significance.
