History

The Cross Florida Greenway is a 110-mile linear park that spans Central Florida, originally conceived as part of a controversial cross-state canal project in the 1930s. After the canal project was abandoned, the land was transformed into a recreational corridor managed by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. The greenway preserves natural habitats and provides recreational opportunities across multiple counties.
